A good posture is essential for maintaining healthy bones, joints and muscles. As this is an area that a few of our walkers are working on, we thought some handy hints, tips and reminders would be helpful. Watch your posture change as you read this…
✅Never slouch when sitting in a chair. Push your bottom to the back of the chair to keep your spine straight.
✅Tuck your bottom under when standing and imagine that there is a string attached to the top of your head pulling you upwards.
✅Never lean on one leg when standing. You may develop muscle imbalances around the pelvis area which can cause muscular strain in the lower back and buttocks
✅Hunching over a book, phone or keyboard can contribute to you developing a rounded upper back which can cause shoulder and upper back stiffness.
✅When standing, pull your shoulders back towards your spine and with your arms hanging at your side, turn your hands so that the backs are facing outwards. This should prevent round shoulders.
